Storage solution for NewSpring’s creative people.
The Problem:
Our video/visual editors have this sweet 7 TB RAID array that Pink Lloyd made. The only downside is that it has to be connected directly to a machine (similar to a huge external hard drive). Right now it is connected to David Jolley’s (our video director) editing machine. The problem is that when Will or Ken needs to access something from the array, they have to go through David’s machine which in turn slows to a crawl.
The Solution:
Attach the RAID array to it’s own beast of a server so it can handle the file transfers and only the file transfers. My plan is to get an xServe to handle the data process.
Thoughts?
I think you need to by Ken one of those 8 core machines. No, two 8 core machines. And another $3 chair for his office. That will fix everything. Then, you need to roll the entire office over to Mac so you won’t have virus problems. can you make the DDRs work on OSX?
I’ll see what I can do. I think you are the first official visitor. You win the prize!!
If the prize is , it’s a good day.
if the prize is this, it’s a good day
