Hangin’ out with the Sangl’s April 5, 2007

So last night was First Wednesday at NewSpring. Matthew Barnett, the pastor of the Dream Center in LA spoke and was really encouraging to hear what is going in LA. But then the real fun started. Joe and I were talking after church that he had just put in laminate floors and said it was a breeze. Problem #1. I love fixing things. So when everything was wrapping up at NewSpring, we went over to see Joe, Jenn, and Melea Sangl’s new home. Problem #2. Seeing how good the hardwood’s looked after Joe had done them himself. So after 3+ hours of great conversation with the Sangl’s and seeing their new home, Jennifer and I headed home and discussed putting down the floors myself. So now the question is: Should I put down my own laminate floors?
Current Project April 2, 2007

Storage solution for NewSpring’s creative people.
The Problem:
Our video/visual editors have this sweet 7 TB RAID array that Pink Lloyd made. The only downside is that it has to be connected directly to a machine (similar to a huge external hard drive). Right now it is connected to David Jolley’s (our video director) editing machine. The problem is that when Will or Ken needs to access something from the array, they have to go through David’s machine which in turn slows to a crawl.
The Solution:
Attach the RAID array to it’s own beast of a server so it can handle the file transfers and only the file transfers. My plan is to get an xServe to handle the data process.
Thoughts?
